Diamond celebrates impending arrival of a Versafire EP

10/07/2019

Diamond Colour Print believes that the latest generation digital press from Heidelberg can provide the colour quality and unit cost to make digital a viable alternative to litho on more than the shortest runs moving forward.

The company has bought a Versafire EP with Heidelberg’s own Prinect Digital Front End or DFE. It arrives this month and will replace one of its two Linoprint 901s.

“This combination of digital press and Heidelberg software means we will be able to produce outstanding work even on uncoated stocks,” says Roy Risley, managing director. “The speed of the machine means we can meet the very tight deadlines requested. It also has excellent environmental qualities.

“Only a few months ago we upgraded to the latest version of Prinect Production Manager so we can manipulate work and send it to whichever output device we decide to use for each job. We are finding that runs are much shorter but this latest generation digital technology can competitively handle longer runs than ever before and the cost-effectiveness of digital is important to us.”

Like other printers, Diamond Colour Print is finding an increase in demand for six page A4 work and landscape A4s as designers seek to find that stand out look. That capability is a feature that has proved very popular with the latest generation Versafires.

The company has handled mixed litho and digital work in the past and with samples from the Versafire EP demonstration it says the layman would be hard pressed to differentiate between the work from the two processes.

Diamond, which is based in Dartford in Kent, serves several designers in Kent and end users in London. It handles print for charities and mailing houses, too, providing a wide range of products. In addition to its presses it has an array of finishing including folding, cutting and creasing, stitching and laminating.
