  • 300 customers from across Japan and 30 students from Korea attended the HEIDELBERG Japan event named “Printshop - before and after”

The theme of the event as aptly named “before and after” and effectively demonstrated to the participants the impact of new workflow technologies such as the Prinect Production manager and HEIDELBERG’s Autonomous printing solution of Push to stop and how they can impact a printshop’s performance, output and bottom line profitability. This was compared to the way print is currently produced in todays factory environment. Where manual processes still dominate the manufacturing process

Additionally there was several new product launches for the Japanese market with the new HEIDELBERG Versafire digital presses with the Prinect DFE and the Speedmaster SX 102 with 92cm format option.

The Open House program consisted of three parts: 1) the Main demonstration of equipment and workflows interlinked by the Prinect Production manager, 2) Breakout sessions, and 3) Free talks session led by product experts. In the main demonstration, the production process was divided into eight segments, including Sales, Job Scheduling, Prepress, Printing, and Postpress, providing insights into the existing/real-life production scenarios faced by many Printers, and the approaches to achieve the ideal production ideal scenario in a modern digitalized environment where data is freely exchanged with the HEIDELBERG Print Ecosystem. At the end of the integrated demonstration all potential cost savings where outlined by the new processes and automated solutions on display.

Following the main demonstration several targeted breakout sessions where held, with each focusing on the three main themes of the day.

1) The transition from an analog production to a digital production with Prinect. Highlighting the digitalization of the print process through Prinect, automated CtP systems, highly automated presses and the versafire digital presses. A fully automated and integrated postpress commercial and packaging solution was also featured

2) Manufacturing shift from an analog operation to a digitalized autonomous operation, with Prinect.

3) Change old processes to new ones. Subsequently, HEIDELBERG Japan’s product experts provided a deep dive session into the various showcased solutions in the showroom.

The feedback from all in attendance was extremely positive. With many concluding that the HEIDELBERG integrated solution can provide an answer not only to many of the current issues faced but also the future requirements and the challenges faced by the Japanese printing Industry.

Later in the day many customers joined the HEIDELBERG Japan user group HEIDELBERG Forum 21 with 300 persons attending late into the evening.
