World's fastest Speedmaster XL 106 perfecting press sets new benchmarks at SAXOPRINT.

More output with fewer operators - that was the declared aim of the investment in the first Speedmaster XL 106 perfecting press with 21,000 sheets per hour.

Today, just one person operates a system that is unrivaled worldwide and has raised the benchmarks at SAXOPRINT in terms of production speed, makeready time and waste to a new level.

Based in Dresden, SAXOPRINT GmbH is part of the Cewe Group and, with more than 500 employees, operates one of the largest production sites for online printing in Germany. SAXOPRINT has a long-standing partnership with HEIDELBERG, which has significantly advanced the development of industrial print production in commercial printing.

"Constant cost pressure and an increasing shortage of skilled workers are the key challenges in production. We are therefore faced with the challenge of saving costs by automating the value chain, becoming less dependent on personnel and increasing productivity at the same time. In HEIDELBERG, we have a partner with whom we can implement the necessary innovations in both software integration and machine technology. A partner who is prepared to break new ground with us and on whom we can always rely," says Klaus Sauer, Managing Director of SAXOPRINT.

The Speedmaster XL 106-8-P is the world's first perfecting press with a maximum speed of 21,000 sheets per hour. The press is also equipped with the fully automatic Plate to Unit printing plate logistics system. It mainly prints from reels using the latest CutStar generation 4. The inline waste ejection system ensures that only good sheets arrive in the pile. Extracted sheets are directly shredded an extracted. Inline measuring systems ensure consistently high print quality. Thanks to the full integration into the Prinect production workflow, the processes from PDF to the printed sheet on the pallet are optimized and automated end to end.

"The figures speak for themselves: the machine produces the jobs consistently at 21,000 sheets per hour, set-up times have been massively reduced and we have also seen a significant reduction in waste. We can achieve this with just one operator - in other words, we can produce more output with half the staff while maintaining optimum print quality," summarizes Richard Müller, responsible for production at SAXOPRINT.

Almost 100 job changes mark the current 8 hour shift record, and this with just one operator. An investment in state-of-the-art offset production that pays off. Day for day it constantly delivers peak figures in terms of printing speed, makeready time, waste reduction and operator deployment.
